Psalm 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds.
Although Thanksgiving and Christmas are seasons of the year most of us look forward to, there are hurting people who need someone. As I sit in Starbucks each week, there are some days I feel the “elephant in the room”. The employees seem agitated with each other and usually go about their business with hardly a smile to the customers. Is that how I am, so caught up in my own little world and hardly smile or acknowledge those around me?
One name of our God is Jehovah-rapha, the Lord who heals. God is the ultimate healer, He heals broken bones, diseased filled bodies, mourning hearts and wounded emotions. We can find His healing in His word, His people and certain experiences. We want to be healed ourselves, but do we get involved in others’ healing? I believe helping others sometimes heals us! Life can be hard, but Jehovah-rapha, our healer, does amazing wonders that we cannot even begin to imagine.
In my womens group, I love the fact that our leader always has us put our hands on, arm around or touch in some way another sister that needs Gods healing touch as we pray. Its as if Gods Strength and spirit is completely covering them like a blanket. The world desperately needs Jesus and Im so thankful that Im not sheltered from seeing it everyday. It makes me have more compassion and love for even the most difficult people. I see the hurt people have by the way the treat others or live out there lives. Even more reason to show them Christs love by just giving them mercy and kindness. My new love and compassion right now is for single moms.
